I just saw the movie “The Girl Who Played With Fire,” a compelling and disturbing work based on the middle novel in the trilogy by Stieg Larson’s about Lisbeth Salander, the avenging angel who settles the score with the powerful and in some cases well respected men who have committed horrific and sadistic sexual crimes against her and other young women.

The global financial crisis has led to a major battle between business and government. Business is blaming government for the crisis while government is blaming business for the financial collapse. The debate has intensified over who is most capable of fixing the world’s financial and social problems. Unfortunately, one group has largely been left out of the debate. Nonprofit or nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) had no role in causing the crisis. However, they can play a critical role in solving the world’s problems.
